Action is the most powerful language to address the climate crisis; solutions are the finest gift for COP30.

On November 14, during the 30 the meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Belém, Brazil, a side event titled "Multi-stakeholder Partnerships Driving Blended Climate Finance" was successfully held at the Green Climate Fund Pavilion. Xiang Nan, Assistant President and International Cooperation Director of China Sustainability Tribune, was invited to participate and officially release the report GoldenKey: 2025 Climate Solutions from Chinese Enterprises( the Report), introducing innovative solutions from Chinese enterprises in addressing climate change to the international community.

Focusing on Solutions to Address Global Concerns

"Global solidarity and solutions are needed more than ever." — this call from UN Secretary-General António Guterres on climate change resonates as a central focus inside and outside the COP30 venue. On-site in the Blue Zone, "solution" became a high-frequency keyword, highlighting a critical shift in global climate governance from consensus to practice.

Against this backdrop, the release of the Report, by the "GoldenKey — SDG Solutions"(GoldenKey) is particularly timely. Based on six years of observations and insights into corporate low-carbon practices, the Report comprehensively presents the current landscape and actions of Chinese enterprises in advancing low-carbon transition, demonstrating how they turn challenges into opportunities and contribute "China’s Solutions" to global green growth.

Notably, the Report not only features innovative practices from leading enterprises but also distills the evolutionary trajectory of Chinese enterprises in green and low-carbon transition: a shift from "a single spark" of low-carbon practice among pioneering enterprises to "a raging prairie fire" of widespread participation across industries; a change from policy-driven compliance ("I have to do it") to strategic initiative("I choose to do it"); an upgrade from state - owned enterprises setting 'benchmarks' to an 'ecosystem' - based acceleration across the industrial chain. Over the past decade, Chinese enterprises have achieved a leap from focusing on their own"self-renovation" to offering "Chinese solutions" to the world, introducing advanced technologies, products, and standards to the world, thereby contributing Chinese wisdom and strength to global climate governance. This evolution not only reflects the depth and breadth of Chinese corporate transition but also demonstrates China’s growing voice and leadership in the global green governance system.

Systematic Empowerment to Forge Chinese Models

In her presentation, Xiang Nan explained that in promoting climate action from awareness to practice, the "GoldenKey — SDG Solutions" has comprehensively enhanced the willingness and capability of Chinese enterprises to address climate change through knowledge building, on-site empowerment, benchmark promotion, international engagement, and ecosystem collaboration, — in a systematic, scenario-based, and globally connected manner. Simultaneously, it has identified and refined a large number of outstanding corporate climate solutions.

She shared that since 2020, GoldenKey has been committed to systematically enhancing the climate action capabilities of Chinese enterprises — the platform has identified and promoted nearly 1,000 outstanding solutions, organized field studies to facilitate experience sharing, and integrated multi-stakeholder resources to provide end-to-end services. GoldenKey also showcased Chinese solutions at UN climate conferences, and strengthened the foundation for corporate action through policy interpretation and communication, driving low-carbon transition from awareness to practice.

Building on the GoldenKey platform, the Report also highlights fundamental shifts in the low-carbon transition of Chinese enterprises: from passive compliance to proactively seizing development opportunities, internalizing decarbonization as a core competitiveness. Guided by China’s "dual carbon" goals, Chinese enterprises are leveraging digitalization to enable transformation, exploring a distinctive Chinese path that synergizes climate governance with high-quality development, and contributing China’s solutions to global sustainable development.

Power enterprises are the main force driving energy transition. Grid enterprises, especially State Grid Corporation of China and China Southern Power Grid Company Limited, which connect energy supply and demand sides, have demonstrated strong advanced, typical, and innovative practices in supporting China’s dual carbon process, earning widespread recognition and honors in GoldenKey activities.

Xiang Nan pointed out that State Grid, for example, has built flexible and efficient low-carbon energy consumption models across scenarios such as industrial parks, factories, rural areas, scenic spots, and household energy use. Through projects like smart microgrid development, distributed photovoltaic promotion, and energy efficiency management, State Grid’s subsidiaries have demonstrated unique advantages in technology integration and system optimization, representing the critical role and strength of broader Chinese enterprises in driving society-wide low-carbon transition.

The Report specifically highlights 14 solutions, spanning five key areas: empowering industrial parks/factories in low-carbon transition, building zero-carbon and livable villages, driving green growth across industries, developing safe and resilient cities, and building new-type power systems.

The side event was co-organized by the Green Finance Forum of 60 (GF60), the All-China Environment Federation, and the Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI), bringing together climate philanthropy foundations, industry experts, and corporate representatives to discuss how to break through climate financing bottlenecks and identify solutions.

The year 2025 marks the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement and the fifth anniversary of China’s "dual carbon" goals. At this critical juncture for global climate governance and China’s green transition, Chinese enterprises, as key implementers of national climate strategy, are undergoing a profound shift from concept to practice. The launch of "GoldenKey: 2025 Climate Solutions from Chinese Enterprises" at COP30 not only summarizes China’s decarbonization progress but also systematically presents a replicable and scalable Chinese pathway at this ten-year milestone of the Paris Agreement, demonstrating to the world that the solutions provided by Chinese enterprises have become an indispensable force in the global climate action system.
