CST joins UNEP Roundtable on Climate Action to share NbS solutions

On June 2, the 2026 World Environment Day #NowForClimate #event, hosted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) China Office, was held in Beijing. UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen delivered video remarks, while Yan Shidong, Director of the Education and Publicity Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, attended and delivered remarks. Some 100 representatives from UN agencies, government departments, foundations, and the private sector participated in the event.

During the roundtable dialogue, Deng Mingwen, Editor-in-Chief of China Sustainability Tribune(CST), shared insights on climate action practices. She introduced the Global NbS Accelerator Program, jointly launched by "GoldenKey – SDG Solutions" and the IUCN China Office, as well as the 12 Chinese corporate NbS demonstration cases released at the World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi. She emphasized that climate action requires not only nature-based solutions (NbS), but also deep decarbonization efforts in sectors such as energy and industry. Using cases from State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company — including "Go Anywhere," "Energy-Saving Gadget," "Carbon & Energy Steward," and "Ningbo Port Green Transition" — she shared Chinese corporate practices in climate action.

The roundtable was moderated by the UNEP China Office, with representatives from the Energy Foundation, China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, SEE Foundation, Beijing Subway, and Weibo also sharing their climate action experiences from the perspectives of international cooperation, policy coordination, green supply chains, green operations, and public communication. The event also featured a thematic concert, using music to call for urgent global climate action.
