On June 28, the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company, together with China Sustainability Tribune, launched the “GoldenKey Delegation Tour to State Grid (State Grid Jiangsu-State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company).” Experts from academia, industry organizations, and international organizations visited and investigated several projects by the State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company(State Grid Wuxi). These projects included the carbon footprint management system service for enterprises, joint emergency rescue and disaster relief, and the smart zero-carbon virtual power plant. The experts gained a deep understanding of the company’s practices and explorations in implementing China’s 30·60 Decarbonization Goal, promoting social governance, and assisting in building a new type of power system.



During the visit, the expert team conducted research on the GoldenKey projects implemented by the State Grid Suzhou in recent years. This visit focused on widely discussed sustainability topics such as China’s 30·60 Decarbonization Goal and the development of new power systems. The experts carried out in-depth research on the projects that the State Grid Suzhou has undertaken in three areas: supporting enterprises in reducing emissions and carbon footprint, managing energy loads, and serving public utilities. They conducted on-site visits to the customer enterprises, production lines, and work sites where the projects were implemented. The experts thoroughly analyzed the projects from the perspectives of the social issues addressed, the innovativeness of the solutions, and the effectiveness of the value. They also provided suggestions and guidance, collaborating with the State Grid Suzhou  to plan better and more comprehensive implementation paths for the projects. This effort aims to ensure that the GoldenKey projects of the State Grid Suzhou truly achieve their goal of providing effective and immediate solutions.

At the project discussion and exchange meeting, experts emphasized that during the implementation of the GoldenKey projects, it is essential to fully consider the social and industry background of the project area and thoroughly investigate supplementary information such as data related to the project so as to accurately analyze the social issues based on more persuasive background information. Furthermore, it is important for more GoldenKey projects to adopt an international perspective, organizing the narrative logic of the GoldenKey project cases from a higher standpoint, so that each GoldenKey solution can become a vivid Chinese “story”.

Since China Sustainability Tribune launched the “GoldenKey—SDG Solutions” in 2020, with a total of 702 actions from 589 enterprises. Starting from 2022, the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) and China Sustainability Tribune have jointly launched the Golden Key -SGCC Special, with 394 actions declared, showcasing numerous innovative practices by the State Grid that contribute to the SDGs. These efforts have provided representative SGCC solutions and China’s solutions for global sustainable development.

The event is one of the “ GoldenKey Delegation Tour to State Grid” series activities, aimed at further enhancing the contribution of the GoldenKey to the SDGs. It aims to comprehensively showcase the value of outstanding solutions under the GoldenKey campaign, deeply understand the experiences behind the sustainable development innovation solutions of various units within SGCC, and encourage more enterprises to actively contribute to the SDGs. Through creating opportunities for field visits and face-to-face communication, inviting sustainability experts to experience and understand SGCC, and providing targeted suggestions and professional guidance for optimizing these typical projects, the event aims to provide more opportunities for the subsequent promotion and wide communication of project achievements.
