GoldenKey Delegation Tour to State Grid (State Grid Jiangsu- State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company)

On June 27, the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company, together with China Sustainability Tribune, launched the “GoldenKey Delegation Tour to State Grid (State Grid Jiangsu-State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company).” Experts from academia, industry organizations, and international organizations were invited to conduct on-site visits and research on several projects by the Wuxi Power Supply Company, including using smart microgrids to support zero-carbon village construction, promoting high-standard farmland construction through electrification pilots, and creating zero-carbon tech parks through comprehensive lifecycle approaches. The event provided an in-depth understanding of the company’s efforts and innovations in addressing climate change, achieving China’s 30·60 Decarbonization Goal, and actively building new power systems.

In recent years, under China’s 30·60 Decarbonization Goal, the State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company(State Grid Wuxi) has actively taken action, leveraging its own strengths to seize the favorable opportunities for green and low-carbon development. By adopting multiple measures, it has comprehensively explored diverse pathways for the low-carbon energy transition and undertaken rich and effective practices. These efforts have been pioneering in promoting low-carbon development and have contributed to building a resilient, safe, green, and low-carbon power grid.

During this event, experts gained a detailed understanding of the sustainable development practices and explorations undertaken by the State Grid Wuxi. They conducted on-site visits to several representative projects. After visiting the project sites, the experts held discussions with the project leaders of the State Grid Wuxi. They unanimously affirmed the company’s efforts in supporting rural vitalization and achieving China’s 30·60 Decarbonization Goal, providing professional feedback on these practices. Additionally, they offered specific suggestions on how to effectively communicate the stories of these initiatives.

About GoldenKey-SDG Solutions
Since China Sustainability Tribune launched the “GoldenKey—SDG Solutions” in 2020, with a total of 702 actions from 589 enterprises. Starting from 2022, the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) and China Sustainability Tribune have jointly launched the Golden Key -SGCC Special, with 394 actions declared, showcasing numerous innovative practices by the State Grid that contribute to the SDGs. These efforts have provided representative SGCC solutions and China’s solutions for global sustainable development.

The event is one of the “ GoldenKey Delegation Tour to State Grid” series activities, aimed at further enhancing the contribution of the GoldenKey to the SDGs. It aims to comprehensively showcase the value of outstanding solutions under the GoldenKey campaign, deeply understand the experiences behind the sustainable development innovation solutions of various units within SGCC, and encourage more enterprises to actively contribute to the SDGs. Through creating opportunities for field visits and face-to-face communication, inviting sustainability experts to experience and understand SGCC, and providing targeted suggestions and professional guidance for optimizing these typical projects, the event aims to provide more opportunities for the subsequent promotion and wide communication of project achievements.
