On October 27, China Sustainability Tribune officially launched the GoldenKey — Sustainable Development Solutions Campaign, together with the representatives of the academia, business and professional organizations.
As a new blockbuster in the industry, the GoldenKey Campaign invited the senior management of CSR/ SDG in business circles as well as experts on CSR/ SDG in academic circles to share the models of China’s actions on SDGs from their perspectives.
On the launch ceremony, Mr. Yu Zhihong, President and Editor-in-chief of China Sustainability Tribune, introduced the basic information of the campaign. Mr. Yu, Prof. Qian Xiaojun of Tsinghua University, Mr. Han Bin, Executive Secretary-general of the Global Compact China Network, and partner representatives of Mengniu and Infinitus jointly announced the launch of GoldenKey — Sustainable Development Solutions Campaign.
As the head coach of GoldenKey Campaign, Prof. Qian Xiaojun, Associate Dean, Academics, Schwarzman College, Director of Green Economy and Sustainable Development Research Center, Tsinghua University, agreed with the GoldenKey concept and expected more for the campaign.
Prof. Qian said, in June 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted sustainable development as the “golden key” to solving global problems. It is essential to find the “golden key”, sustainable development, to address the current global challenges. As a vital contributor to social development, enterprises should and can shoulder the responsibility for sustainable development. She put forward suggestions and guidance for this campaign. She stressed that this campaign should adhere to the principle of the principle of quality over quantity to select enterprise projects and practices that realy live up to the honor of "golden keys".
The GoldenKey Expert Committee composed of senior management of enterprises and principals of professional organizations was set up. The committee members discussed how to discover the commercial value of sustainable development. In their sharing, most people said that the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the recognition of the important value and strategic position of sustainable development for enterprises, and the GoldenKey campaign has built a platform for enterprises to demonstrate their actions and gather Chinese wisdom and strength. The experts were full of expectations and confidence in the GoldenKey campaign. They would fully support this campaign and jointly promote the unleashing of business values and expand the influence of sustainable development.
GoldenKey — Sustainable Development Solutions
In June 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted sustainable development as the “golden key” to solving global problems. In January 2020, the United Nations launched a Decade of Action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
As today’s global challenges have their roots in unsustainable development, it is essential to find the “golden key”, sustainable development.
To implement the “golden key” spirit and respond to the Decade of Action, China Sustainability Tribune officially launched the GoldenKey — Sustainable Development Solutions Campaign, aiming to find and set up models of China’s actions on SDGs to tell China’s stories and share China’s experiences.
Our Focuses
Based on the 17 SDGs, this year’s GoldenKey campaign will focus on the following six areas: green development, inclusion and equality, tech for SDGs, responsible finance, responsible governance and business innovation.
Award categories include sustainable governance, sustainable transportation, sustainable investment, tech for SDGs, no poverty, climate change and energy transition, biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, resource use and the circular economy. (Adjustments will be made based on the declaration)
Our Criteria
We believe that selection criteria impact action quality. Based on the deep understanding of the basic philosophy of locks and keys, which represents problems and their solutions, we propose and will stick to the GoldenKey AMIVE criteria.
1. Accuracy: pinpoint the causes to better hunt possible solutions
2. Match: find the “highly-matched” solutions
3. Innovation: apply innovation to relieve key barriers
4. Value: create comprehensive and multiple values through problem-solving
5. Evaluation: resonate with stakeholders for positive evaluations
Our Process
The GoldenKey campaign establishes a step-by-step awarding process of “recommendation-roadshow-review-selection”. By strengthening professionalism, fairness and competitiveness, we constrain the rights of sponsors and partners, aiming to create the award as an “Oscar” in the field of sustainability.
1. Recommendation and self-recommendation: Well-known experts or professional editors in fields of CSR and sustainability recommend some corporate actions. Enterprises can also offer their actions as candidates. After organizers review and evaluate the submitted documents by applicants, the actions will be shortlisted for GoldenKey Database. The top 10 in each category of actions will receive the award of GoldenKey · Honor.
(Recommendation, self-recommendation and evaluation: October 15 - November 25, 2020)
2. Roadshow and review: The listed actions of GoldenKey · Honor will be presented on “Open Roadshow” with the introduction of the action plan and values by the enterprises, and then get a comprehensive score review by the jury composed of GoldenKey experts. The top 4 in each category of actions will be honored with the award of GoldenKey · Finalist.

3. Selection and release: The award winners of GoldenKey · Finalist will have a 100-seconds video to show at the annual award ceremony. The award of GoldenKey · Champion will be further selected by the Academic Committee of China Sustainability Tribune, the highest award of the GoldenKey Campaign. The action with the most votes in each category will win the award of GoldenKey · Champion.

In order to ensure the fairness and influence of GoldenKey campaign, we will uphold the principles of public interest. Our jury consists of members from following areas and will be involved in the evaluation and selection process:
